RUN'S HOUSE season premier Episode 1.

After watching the past seasons of Run’s House, I have grown to love these people. It’s as if I’m watching them grow right before my eyes. They’re the modern day Huxtable family with more of a hip-hop entrepreneurial twist. Ok, so the season has officially begun: not the MLB world Series but MTV’s Run’s House (and I say this with excitement). I must admit that the season premier didn’t hold up to my expectations but what should I have expected really – it’s supposed to be reality TV right?!?! I mean how many times can something major go down in one’s house or in this case Run’s House?

To recap and comment on the first episode – JoJo has officially graduated from high school and was rewarded with a nice BMW (it looks like a 3 series). As a result, Diggy and Russy felt that they should be rewarded because of their achievements of making the honor roll. The vibe came off as “I should always be rewarded whenever I do something good even if I should do it just because….” It’s great to do something good and be rewarded for it but you shouldn’t always expect something in return – I mean what lesson would you gain out of it? I.E. Just because you pay your rent on time every month doesn’t mean your landlord should reward you with a discounted rent – its part of the life cycle. It’s evident that they’re well off but just because they’re super rich doesn’t mean they should be consistently spoiled to death.

Vanessa and Angela a.k.a. the black Olsen twins (as JoJo once jokingly put it) are not just sisters but best friends and great business partners as well. They’ve decided that maybe New York City isn’t for them. Since spending the summer in L.A., they’ve grown to adore the scene and considered it as their potential place of residence. Who knows: Maybe the plush Manhattan apartment subsidized by Rev. Run isn’t enough space for the ladies to grow. Rev. decided that if it’s an L.A. pad that they want – they surely won’t be keeping the apartment in the city as a back up. So he got rid of the place. It may not have been what the girls wanted to hear but that’s what they needed to hear and sadly to say that’s life. Sometime the kids get carried away with being The Simmons’: Hip-Hop’s royal family but that is where Rev. Run come into play and keeps them grounded. As for Vanessa’s career with Guiding Light: her character’s stay was extended until the end of the summer as far as we know (but let’s cross our fingers to see if she can stay longer). This placed a hold on the girls’ idea of moving to L.A.; which leads them back to good ol’ New Jeerzeey. Angela wasn’t too happy about it but how bad could it be to live in the Simmons mansion?!?!?!

At the end JoJo gave the boys a gift for their achievements and the girls got to “stay their asses home” as the Rev said on last season’s (apartment searching) episode. All in all, the family is back together again and ready to show us what we’ve missed out on and have yet to see. I’m sure that they have great projects lined up, funny moments, and lessons to teach so stay tuned.

Lesson Learned: You should always do the right thing without expecting anything in return.

I wish I would’ve seen more/ less: It would have been great to see JoJo’s graduation as we saw Angela’s. Was it not a big deal?!?! Also, what exactly is JoJo going to school for? And what’s up with Angela’s schooling? She was so quick to jump the gun and move to L.A. without considering school as an object – what’s that all about? Humm…
